Director and founder of Cambridge Diversity Consulting, Michael D. Baran, Ph.D., currently
teaches at Harvard University. His course offerings
this year are Race in the Americas and Diversity.
Dr. Baran has been studying race, ethnicity, and culture from an anthropological and psychological perspective for approximately 16 years. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in the field of cultural anthropology with an additional certification in cognitive and developmental psychology.
Research
Dr. Baran integrates anthropological and psychological research, a combination that is extremely productive but surprisingly rare in studies of race and ethnicity. He has worked on research projects in many different countries, including Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, Spain, and the United States. In addition to English he is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Dr. Baran's research has been supported by grants from the following organizations:
